Glamorous outfits with chikan effort

Fashion designer Manju Jalota is well-known for her intricate chikankari craft that brings out the best in every woman through traditional & contemporary designs. From sarees, salwar material to dupattas, every piece of work is neatly wicker with chikan work. Every year, Alankrit is held in Kochi & the designer is particular about the patterns & styles in demand of the customers in the city.

The designer makes use of varied Indian fabrics and has innovated the plain fabric with cut works, net and chikankari giving the dress an elegant and sophisticated look. Manju Jalota has come up with a delectably different collection this year. Keeping in mind the changing fashion trends, the designer has made use of extra natural and light fabrics such as pure cotton and silk and beautifully changed these fabrics to glamorous wear.

Chikankari is originally finished and brought from Lucknow. Spread across 35 villages in Lucknow, this traditional craft is fetching a source of income to at least 12,000 ladies in the remotest villages in Uttar Pradesh.

A sari neatly woven with chikankari & embroidery may take as long as eight months & a single duppatta will take up to months of work. The cost ranges from `3,000 to `11,000 depending on the pattern used. This year, Manju has adopted the chikankari on handbags & clutches, which enhance the general look of a woman.
